    1. Where do I Find Women’s Tall Sized Clothing?

Now I can recommend stores for you, and that could be perceived as being the easiest response, but I believe in teaching one to fish; i.e. showing you how to find what works specifically for you & your taste. By showing you how to search for what you want, as your taste/style requirements change, you will always be able to find what is right for you without relying on someone’s suggestions:

Retail Stores – Most national retail stores now have clothing labeled “tall” or “long”. These tall/long sized clothing work best if you are 5’11 and shorter and/or have an inseam of 34 inches and less. Once you have defined the clothing style that works for you, contact (call or email) the retailer that provides your style of clothing and find out if the carry tall/long sized clothing before you proceed to their shop.

Online Shopping – As a tall woman/girl of 5’10 and up with an inseam of 34 inches and more you will find that online shopping will provide you with the most options. When shopping online your “search” words are the key to finding what you want: here is a list of search words to drive you to successfully finding what you are looking for on the internet:

  • Women’s Tall Sized Clothing
  • Clothing for Tall Women
  • Jeans for Tall Women
  • Pants for Tall Women
  • Pants/Jeans with (X) inseam (replace the x with inseam you are looking for)
  • (X) for Tall Women (replace the x with pants, jeans, dresses, skirts, coats)
  • Couture Clothing for Tall Women
  • Couture Tall Sizes for Women
  • Tall Plus Size Clothing for Women
  • Plus Sizes for Tall Women

Note – when shopping online type in your favorite retail clothing store to find out if they carry tall sizes online. You will find that although retail stores may not carry tall sizes in their shops they offer tall sizes online.

Catalog Shoppinglike Online shopping there are many options if you are a tall woman/girl of 5’10 and up with an inseam of 34 inches and more, however, there are not as many options as there maybe with shopping Online because many retailers are moving away from selling via the paper catalog. Paper catalogs are costly due to the price for postage and there are also the environmental issues of more paper in our landfills and cutting down trees. Nonetheless, for those retail stores that may not carry tall sizes in the stores they tend to offer tall sizes in their catalogs. So go online to look up the retailers of your choice and request a catalog…if you are already online you might as well browse for options online.

Note – I have noticed that upon ordering online that some retailer include their catalog with the order. That catalog will contain items that you cannot get online. Those items offered tend to be in very limited quantity, but the price reduction is phenomenal. So catalog shopping is definitely worth checking out!

    1. Where do I Find Women’s Large Size Shoes?

Now I can recommend stores for you, and that could be perceived as being the easiest response, but I believe in teaching one to fish; i.e. showing you how to find what works specifically for you & your taste. By showing you how to search for what you want, as your taste/style requirements change, you will always be able to find what is right for you without relying on someone’s suggestions:

Retail Stores – Many national retail stores carry large size shoe up to size 11. Just ask. If you are uncomfortable with asking for you size face - to – face give your local retailer a call. If they have your size, request that they set aside as many of your size for you to try on upon your arrival at the store.

Online Shopping – You will find many large size shoe options online for sizes up to a size 15. When shopping online your “search” words are the key to finding what you are looking for: here is a list of search words to drive you to successfully find what you want:

  • Large Size Shoes for Women
  • Women’s Large Size Shoes
  • Women’s Shoes in Size (X) (replace the x with the size you are looking for)

Note – when shopping online type in your favorite retail shoe store to find out if they carry shoe sizes larger than a size 10. You will find that although retail stores may not carry size 11 and up in their shops they offer sizes up to 12 online.

Catalog Shopping – I have not encountered too many shoe catalogs. However, for those retail stores that may not carry large size shoes in the stores may offer sizes 11 and 12 in their catalogs. So go online to look up the retailers of your choice and request a catalog…if you are already online you might as well browse for options online.

Note – I have noticed that upon ordering online that some retailer include their catalog with the order. That catalog will contain items that you cannot get online. Those items offered tend to be in very limited quantity, but the prices reduction is phenomenal. So catalog shopping is definitely worth checking out!

    1. How do I Dress Shorter?

Through your clothing choice find ways that allow the eye resting points on the body rather than having the eye traveling up down the length of the body. This achieved by choosing:

  • Separates; bottoms and tops in complimentary colors
  • Avoid monochromatic colors
  • Knee length Skirts
  • Pants in the boot or boy cut
  • Don’t tuck shirts
  • Wear flat shoes of 1 ½ inch or less

There are pages of instruction on how to dress shorter in the Fashion Tips to Dressing Shorter section of One Size Does Not Fit Tall - Tall Women’s Fashion Guide and Resource”. Here you will learn how to use color, pattern, and various clothing cuts to get to your goal.

    1. Should Tall Women & Tall Girls Wear Heels?

You may not realize this, but when you wear a flat that does not work with the outfit, it screams, “I am insecure and uncomfortable in my height”. Insecurities are never attractive. Do not shy away from pumps (2 inch heel) and high heels (3 inch heel or a little more) especially if the outfit calls for it. If a heel is what the outfit requires, BUY THAT HEEL! A tall woman in a pair of heels is an extremely sexy and confident look. And confidence is ALWAYS attractive.

Heels are extremely sexy. They make the leg look shapely, and cause the woman to arch her back, tilting the bust and buttocks up and out.

I know this could go without saying, but I will add that pumps and heels do add inches to your height and you will appear taller. You may get additional stares and even questions, like “why are you wearing heels when you are already tall”. Nonetheless, when you display confidence no matter what you choose to wear it will be extremely fashionable.

    1. What will look good on my shape? I am (Pear) (Apple) (Curvy), etc shaped tall women….

There are basically 5 different body types; standard, curvy, pear, apple, top heavy. First go to the Body Type page to insure that you have properly identified your body shape. Then check out “Fashion Tools Tables” located within Clothes pages on this site to find out what clothing cuts work best on you.

And for a more in-depth look on clothing cuts that work on your specific body type take a look at the Tools to Use sections in my bookOne Size Does Not Fit Tall - Tall Women’s Fashion Guide and Resource”.  The Tools to Use sections breaks down why the cut will work on your body type, as well as, suggest modifications to a cut that will make a clothing piece even more beneficial for your body type.

    1. How do I look stylish on a budget?

Start out by purchasing the “Wardrobe Basics”; see tip number 6 on the Fashion Tips page of this website for details on what the wardrobe basics are.  If you own the wardrobe basics you will have access to 15 very stylish outfits.

    1. I am a tall teen on a budget – what should I have in my wardrobe?

  • 6 shirts – combined with jeans you will have 6 outfits that will get you through the week
  • 1 Jacket
  • 1 sneaker

    1. What are some quick hair remedies?

Find a trusted hair stylist to provide you with 1-on-1 consultation. If you see someone with great hair, ask them for their stylist’s contact information and then go visit the stylist. At your visit, inform the stylist what you want to achieve and they will provide you with some options on how to get you there. This is free! However, after the consultation the stylist will expect you to make an appointment with them, but you know this is entirely up to you.

  • Start with a good hair cut that flatters your face, works with your since of style and is easy to maintain. Look for hair cuts that you like in magazines and tear them out for your stylist to reference.
  • Use good hair products that are made for your hair type (curly, straight, dry, chemically processed, colored, etc). There are many great quality products that can be found in your Pharmacy retail stores
  • Use the right styling tools that do not burn your hair. Make sure the tool is always set at the proper temperature for your hair type.
  • Chemical treatments (color, perms, relaxers, etc) should be applied by a professional hair stylist to avoid hair damage

    1. How can apply makeup in few minutes?

Go to your favorite makeup counter at one any one of the national retail stores. Talk to one of the makeup consultants about what you want to achieve and they will try some products on you to see what may work on your skin type. They will show you how to apply makeup and let you know what colors to embrace/avoid. This is free! However, the makeup consultant want you to purchase an item or two, but this is entirely up to you.

Here is what you need to create a 5 minute daytime face:

  • Tinted blotting powder – this will maintain the shine and provide sheer/very minimal coverage
  • Mascara – This will elongate the lash and make the eyes look larger
  • Lip color (neutral color with light shine) – This will provide a hint of color while at the same time moisturize the lip
  • Eyeliner – this is optional in the daytime, but combined with the mascara will give the eyes some additional depth
